Software teams are asked to create estimates all the time. How many points in that user story? How long will that increment take? How big is this release? How much can we fit into this sprint? The estimate you give can vary greatly with the three estimation types! One type is for planning, another for promises, and the third is good for uncovering ambiguity.
Knowing the three estimation types will prevent a lot of frustration because you can clarify why you are creating an estimate and how much effort you should put into creating it.
Join Earl Beede as he describes the ins and outs of promise estimates, planning estimates, and ambiguity estimates, sharing when and where each type is typically used in software development.
In this webinar, you’ll learn
- What the three estimation types are—each is unique and appropriate in only certain scenarios
- How to create estimates of each estimation type
- How to use the estimates you create to share the proper information
